My Boys

Just loving on his baby brother!

Just chillin' in Teague's crib together. Yes, Teague is still in his crib. I am going to keep him there as long as he will stay :) They LOVE eachother!

Couldn't be more happy with my baby boys! I am loving being home with them everyday and am dreading going back to work.....good thing I know that Courtney will love them almost as much as I do!

My (not so baby) boy Teague!

Who couldn't love this face? I mean honestly!?!?!

This summer has been amazing. Teague is quite the two year old little boy. My mom says that he takes after me because he is BOSSY! He is quite the little cowboy and dad's sidekick. He loves to go up to Grandma and Papa's house to ride Anna. He has even been cutting a little this summer, just like dad.

This picture is of Teague helping mom and dad feed and water the horses at Grandma and Papa's house.

I'm loving the cowboy boots and trunks. The only thing he is missing is his cowboy hat. :)

He can't go riding without his wranglers, belt, boots, and hat. He is the cutest dang cowboy I have ever seen.....sorry Daron, you are definitely a close second!!

I really can't believe my baby boy is not a baby anymore but a big brother. He is really smart and talks really well. We always get comments on how smart people think he is (takes after me). He is funny, full of it, loves being the center of attention, gets "bucked off" of almost everything,

Colt Sterling Hughes

Our second little boy was due on July 3rd. One of the positives (I think there are many) of having a c-section is you get to choose your due date. I felt like a week was a little too early, so I decided on just 4 days early.

We were to arrive at the hospital at 5:30am on Wednesday, June 29th. My mother-in-law showed up a little after 5am to stay with Teague. We showed up at the hospital, ready to check-in, but had to wait for another girl who looked like she was in pain. Daron and I laughed because we walked in with no pain and knew that in two hours we would have a baby, still with no pain :)

We checked in, got our room, got settled, and waited for the nurses to come in to start my IV and get me prepped for surgery. Everything was going fine, the IV was started, and then the anesthesiologist came in to do the epidural. The epidural was a little uncomfortable at first, but went in easy. I started to feel nauseous (I felt the same way with Teague, but was given some medicine right away and felt better), instead of giving me medicine, they gave me a barf bag and......yep, I puked! Totally gross because I couldn't drink anything, but the cute nurse did give me some water to gargle, if I promised not to swallow it:)

At exactly 7:30am, they wheeled me into the operating room. Everyone was getting ready. The anesthesiologist put this air thing on my chest that blew warm air on my so that I wouldn't shake (quite pleasant actually, I didn't have that with Teague). They made their first cut at 7:44am. I felt like I could feel a lot more this time and it felt like they had a harder time getting this little guy out. At 7:51am, I heard the most beautiful sound in the world, my baby boy crying. Colt Sterling was 7lbs and 19 inches long. He seemed so tiny, but was absolutely gorgeous.

After I got to see my little boy for a second, they took him down to mother and baby to get cleaned up and I was getting sewed up and then had to recover for about an hour upstairs on labor and delivery.

I couldn't wait to meet my little boy! I was so excited to get downstairs to see him. When they brought him in, he was just as beautiful as I had imagined. He was perfect. I was immediately smitten with this little guy.
About an hour later, Teague came to see us. He was so dang cute with Colt. He did ask if Colt could go back in mama's belly. We told him that couldn't happen:)

We had quite a few visitors in our two days of being at the hospital. Colt was already one loved little boy. I was thrilled to leave after two days, instead of the normal three. What can I say, I am a stud when it comes to having a c-section. I am not in a ton of pain and I recover quite quickly:)

I was a little nervous to leave and start our new life with my family of four, but I was so excited too!
Let the craziness begin:)

Where do I even begin???

I have been dreading this post for months......I haven't blogged in a year, where do I even begin?
So much has happened in the past year:
*Halloween
*Finding out we were expecting baby #2
*Thanksgiving
*Christmas
*Finding out we were having another boy
*Easter
*Teague turned 2!!!
*Lake Powell trip
*The much anticipated arrival of baby Colt Sterling
*Summer fun
And really, how do I catch up?!?!
So, I am going to attempt to catch up, starting with the most recent.
Wish me luck:)

What!?!?!?!

Two posts in one day??? Well, I figured that when something happens that I want to blog about, I better blog about it whenever I have the chance. Teague is down for a nap right now, so what better time, than now?
We went for a bike ride this morning and found ourselves at the park. He has been getting more and more daring on the things that he will do by himself. Today, he decided that he didn't need mom to help him down the slide, that he was going to go all by himself. Well, I couldn't help but laugh at his hairdo, when he got to the bottom......(Don't mind his silly facial expression!)

He loves to "driving, driving" on the playground!

Seriously, love the hair....and remember Teague has never gotten a haircut..... That is 15 months of growth.... There are a couple pieces that are longer than others :)

Summer.....Where did you go???

I have truly had a great summer! I can honestly say that I LOVE being a stay at home mom. Spending time with Teague everyday, has been such a blessing. I am amazed at how smart he is and have loved watching him learn and grow this summer. I can also say that being a stay at home mom is the hardest job anyone can have. I can't believe I am already saying goodbye to summer and hello to teaching and fall!! We have had a great time over the past couple months; going to Lake Powell, camping, visiting California, having my mom come to visit, running, walking with Grandma, frequent visits to the park, swimming, fairs, rodeos, riding horses, going to horse shows, reading a TON, boating, and of course sleeping in (haha, ya right....unless you consider 7am or 7:30am sleeping in, which during the school year, definitely is !!!).
Enjoy!!!
When I saw this I was cracking up....Apparently, he was trying to get out, but then got stuck with both legs on one side of the high chair.....funny kid! BTW, we have to strap him in now because even with the tray on, he can find a way to stand up.......

Here he is at Pretend City in California. This was the coolest place I have ever seen. It's a complete town, for kids....all the way down to working for stamps on a punch card, to take to the ATM to get money, to then donate to an organization of their choice. Teague was farming in this pic. He loved the water area, where he could catch fish and lobsters, loved driving in the cars, really just loved being able to go and do what he wanted without hearing his mom say "No! Don't touch!" It was seriously, sooo cool!

You are probably wondering, why did she put this picture in....Well, Teague and I went running almost every day this summer. From the beginning of June until about the middle of July, we would run to Grandma and Grandpa's house, pick up Grandma and then walk for about an hour. Teague and I would be gone for at least 2 1/2 hours, he was hungry and tired by the time we got home.....So this picture of him eating and falling asleep was a daily occurrence in our house.

My boys at Lake Powell. Teague loved riding the Jet Skis!! He even fell asleep on them...

At Grandma and Grandpa's house....He loved playing in the hose! He is definitely a water baby!!

Camping...he thought he was pretty cool with his own camping chair! That was his first time eating oranges....LOVED THEM!

It was hot one day while we were camping, so I decided to fill the bucket with water and let Teague hang out.......HE LOVED IT! We were cracking up because he would get down low in the bucket and then pop up..laughing and smiling the whole time....It's ok, you can call it a redneck pool :)

We went on a 4-wheeler ride up to the cell phone towers on West Mountain (I think). Teague, of course, loves the 4-wheeler. He didn't like sitting between us, he HAD to sit up front and drive with dad.

Heaven!!! Nothing could be better than riding horses in that beautiful scenery!

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED my summer vacation with my family!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

So, I haven't posted in FOREVER and I should have posted all summer long! I now have 2 weeks left of summer and I need to get caught up! Where to start.......
Teague turned ONE!!! And his party was a success! We went to the sports park, near our house, invited friends and family to celebrate with us. It was still a little chilly, but the kids were able to play on the playground and the adults could sit and talk while watching the kids play. Teague was spoiled rotten....All the attention was on him and he received tons of great gifts. He was really funny to watch eat his cake! Here are some pictures of the birthday boy!

This is the darling cake that Shannon made for my little birthday boy! She was such an amazing help, babysitter, friend!!!! We miss them so much already!

Do you think he liked his cake?

Loving being a big boy and feeding himself!

Getting help opening his presents from his Uncle Aaron, cousin Remington, and friend Jacob!

Because I am so late in posting about Teague's birthday, I will tell you what Teague is doing at almost 15 months....
* He is walking (trying to run) EVERYWHERE!
* He loves to read books by himself and have us read to him
* He is SOOO smart! He does lots of animal sounds: horse, cow, pig, fish (opens his mouth open and closed), lizard (sticks his tongue in and out), dog, cat, lion, and chicken. He can tell you what Mama says (he says no, no, no while waving his little arm around) and he will also tell you what Grandpa says (he roars like a lion)
* He says mama, dada, ball, bird, baby, water, milk, yummy yum (num-a-num), bike, nanna (either to represent Anna, the horse, or banana), grandma (sounds like ma)....that's all I can remember right now.
*He loves mac'n'cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches, cheese, apples, oranges, bananas, nilla wafers, fruit snacks (which I swore I was never going to give my children), chicken, bread, ritz crackers, KETCHUP, mini pancakes with syrup, chicken nuggets....ok.....really anything :)
*When you ask him his name, he will say Teague (sounds like T) and you can also ask him how old he is and he will say One.
*He loves to be outside....we go running quite often and he doesn't usually mind being in the jogger for a while..
*Loves the pool and going down the water slide
* Loves bubbles
* Still loves riding horses and riding the mule around Grandma and Grandpa's yard to feed all the animals
* Is quite loud...doesn't have a low volume
* His scream is still ear piercing and horrible!!
*He has 9 teeth, with the 2nd molar coming in shortly...
* So dang cute, I can't even stand it!!!!

Look Who Got a Hunting License...

Yes, me! I know, shocking. Daron really wanted me to get one, I of course wasn't wanting to get it, but I did anyway to be a good sport. Well, I learned a TON in the Hunter's Safety class and thought, well maybe I will go hunting with Daron in October and see what I can get.....Well, I really don't know if I saw a cute buck looking at me, if I could really pull the trigger. I guess time will tell.

Here I am clay pigeon shooting with the boys! I can hold my own....Must be going back to my military school days :)

Well Hello, Old Friend!

Wow, 3 months have come and gone WAY too quickly and I stink at keeping up on my blog. So here comes a much needed update!

Teague is now almost 10 months old! Where has the time gone? Seriously, he is getting so big and acting like he is such a big boy. Right now Teague is:
* LOVING pulling himself up to walk around EVERYTHING (chairs, tables, couch, bathtub, etc)
*LOVING mac & cheese, yogurt, cheerios, rotisserie chicken, cheese, squash, sweet potatoes
*Waving at everyone
*Giving kisses
*Talking up a storm
*Definitely showing a little of that Hughes/Schuda temper :)
*Still army crawling everywhere and FAST
*Infatuated with kids, babies, toddlers...you name it, he LOVES them!
*Still nursing :) and doesn't show signs of wanting to give that up anytime soon!!!
*ALWAYS moving.....even when nursing, seriously this kid NEVER stops
*Has 6 teeth
*At his 9 month well check weighs 22 pounds 12 ounces and was 28.75 inches
*Not scared or shy, he will go to anyone who wants to hold him

We LOVE our little bubba boy!

Thanksgiving Re-cap

Daron, Teague, and I had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving. Justin, my older brother, his wife Erin, and their darling little girl Rilan all make the trek out here from California. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED having them in my home.
Thanksgiving was so nice because it was low key, casual, and SOOO good! (I did it ALL myself) Erin and I decided to go out early on Black Friday to see what all the hype was about. Holy cow is all I can say. I am not quite sure if I ever want to do that again. Teague and Rilan both enjoyed the Light Parade, even if it was windy and freezing! We went to Park City one day, Justin said he could live there....totally fine with me! We also went on a one horse carriage ride at Salem Pond. (If you haven't done it, do it....well worth the money)
All in all, it was a great weekend. I wish they lived closer because I miss them. Rilan is the cutest little girl I have ever seen, so dang polite and just a little chatter box. I LOVE HER! Come back soon Schuda clan, we loved having you!

Here are a few pictures from their stay!
Justin and Rilan!

Me and baby Teague at the light parade.
The gang, minus Daron!
Love her!!!

Just a couple weeks late!

My baby boy is 6 months old!!!! I know, I know, I can't believe it either. It has been the best 6 months of my life.
Teague now:
  • has 2 teeth
  • is sitting up by himself
  • scoots all over the place
  • is eating stage 2 baby food
  • LOVES biter biscuits
  • sticks his tongue out and blows
  • waves his arms around like a mad man when he is excited
  • still LOVES nursing more than anything
  • loves to watch the dogs play
  • weighs 21 pounds (well that was 2 1/2 weeks ago)-96%
  • is 28 1/2 inches long-97%
  • actually starting to grow some more hair
  • makes his mom and dad the most proud, happy parents!!!!

Busy or Life???

So I have totally fallen off the blog wagon! I don't know if I am really, truly busy or life has just happened. I think it's just life, but really I feel like a chicken with my head cut off most of the time. After work all I want to do is play with and love on Teague:) Speaking of Teague, he is 6 months old TODAY!!!! I will post about that soon. I love my baby boy more than I ever thought I could. I love my husband more and more everyday, even if I am complaining about him sometimes :) I am so excited to see my mom and Shabob tomorrow and so stoked to have my brother, his wife, and daughter over for Thanksgiving.
A REAL post to come!!!

What a GRIP!

I cut my hair thinking Teague wouldn't pull it because it was short....boy was I wrong! Here he is showing daddy what a strong grip he has....
